Sound Lab: Physics of Music & Media

See all kids events in Alameda →

The Science of Sound demystifies the music and media we experience every day by exploring the physics and technology behind it. From understanding how sound waves travel through the air to stepping into the role of a cinematic sound designer, this program empowers students to move from passive listeners to active audio creators. Students will investigate the physics of sound—vibrations, waves, frequency, and pitch—through hands-on experiments, DIY instruments, and vocal exploration. The program is highly interactive and experimental, encouraging participants to test ideas, solve problems, and think creatively about how sound works. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of the science behind sound—presented in an engaging, hands-on way—along with their own handmade instruments to share and continue experimenting with beyond the class. ⚠️ If this camp is no longer listed at the registration link, registration has closed.
