🏆 Best Places for Kids, City by City
Hand-picked local guides, the top splash pads, parks, fishing spots, and more, sorted so the best ones are first.
Why we built this
Saturday morning. The kids are climbing the walls, the weather's good, and you know something fun is happening nearby. You just can't find it.
So you open 10 tabs. Half are out of date. The library calendar is buried three clicks deep. That Facebook event might be today, or it might've been last March. Forty minutes later you give up and put on a movie.
We've done that more times than we'd like to admit. This site is our fix for it.
What it does
Pick your city. You get the kids' events happening this week within about 50 miles, closest and soonest first. Real dates, checked listings, no archaeology.
Tap "Free" for the no-cost stuff (library story times, park programs, that kind of thing). Tap "Today" or "This Weekend" when plans change at the last minute, which they always do. Filter by age or activity if you're after something specific.
Where the events come from
We check the places parents actually use: local library branches, parks and rec departments, children's museums, nature centers, community theaters, churches running VBS, and neighborhood groups. Every day.
Then we pull out anything that isn't for families, so you're not scrolling past bar trivia to find a toddler art class.
Small towns too, not just the big cities
Most "things to do with kids" sites cover the same 10 metros and skip everywhere else. We go the other way.
We've got the big cities, sure. But we put real work into the mid-size towns and suburbs where people actually live. If you've ever searched your town's name and gotten results for the city an hour away, you know the problem. We're chipping away at it, one place at a time.
That's also why we make our Best Around guides: hand-picked lists of the best splash pads, parks, playgrounds, museums, and birthday spots near each city, ranked best-first.
The boring but important stuff
It's free. No account, no newsletter to dodge. A few ads keep the lights on, and we don't sell your data (the privacy policy spells it out).
Run a library, sports league, or church group with events to list? Spot something out of date? Email us. We read all of it. More about us is here.

Common Questions
- What cities do you cover?
- We list events in 899+ U.S. cities right now, from big ones like Houston, Dallas, and Los Angeles to the smaller suburbs and towns most sites skip. We add new ones all the time.
- Are free kids events listed on this site?
- Yes, free and paid both. On any city page, tap the "Free" filter to see only the no-cost stuff. A lot of library programs, park events, and community days don't cost a thing.
- How often are the event listings updated?
- Every day. We check library calendars, parks and rec departments, museums, and community groups across the country so the listings stay current.
- What kinds of kids events are listed?
- Story times, youth sports, outdoor festivals, summer camps, church and VBS programs, splash pads, toddler classes, teen workshops, and indoor art and science for rainy days. If it's for families, it's fair game.
