Session 3 - Water Safety Aide (5800.206)

This program is for students who are interested in assisting with City of Temecula swim lessons, and who are ready to be responsible and professional helpers around the pool. What is a Water Safety Aide? During the City of Temecula Learn-to-Swim program, these helpers in the water assist the instructor by demonstrating skills, singing songs, playing age-appropriate games, and helping students stay on task. The Water Safety Aide typically assists with toddler classes and Level 1. Requirements To be a Water Safety Aide you just need to meet the following requirements: Be a high school student (ages 14-17 years old) Be comfortable in the water Have a desire to help children learn and grow Complete the Water Competency Sequence (below) successfully. Enter the water and completely submerge Recover to the surface and remain there for at least 1 minute (floating or treading) Rotate 360 degrees and orient to the exit Level off and propel oneself on the front or the back through the water for at least 25 yards Exit from the water Commitment The students in Swim Lessons thrive with a consistent routine. As such, our Water Safety Aides need to be committed to attending all classes for a full swim session: One Session will consist of 8 classes (2 weeks). Classes will be Monday through Thursday.
