Teens Love Cooking (TLC)
In partnership with the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, Teens Love Cooking (TLC) is an 8-week program that provides teens with the opportunity to become competent, independent and kitchen-savvy by teaching them valuable kitchen and cooking skills. TLC is designed to improve knowledge of food, nutrition and food preparation techniques through an integrated nutrition and culinary curriculum. During this course Teens will learn how to prepare and cook with a whole foods approach, understand where their food comes from, and select the most nutritious foods. The program culminates with a Food Fiesta, a celebration of program completion, during which students plan and cook a recipe to demonstrate what they learned. Teens in grades 7-12 must register (registration is for the entire 8 week series) and have a signed permission slip to participate. Bilingual staff will be present to support Spanish-speaking teens.
