Special Olympics Swim Team

The City of Tempe Special Olympics swim team is for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. Practices will focus on athletes developing and practicing fundamental techniques of various swimming strokes. Please note that this is not a "learn to swim" program. However, there are assisted/modified events available for athletes that require certain modifications/adaptations. Please contact for more information regarding assisted events.Athletes will have the option of swimming up to two events at competitions plus a relay. If you choose to participate in a relay, relay practice will be from 6:30-7pm. Please choose between 5:30-6:30 or 7-8 as your preferred practice hour. Special Olympics Arizona will be enforcing a new rule that athletes will only be allowed to participate in one sport at Fall Games (October 23rd & 24th). This means if you are registering for swim AND bocce, you will have to choose one for this specific competition. Athletes are welcome to participate in both sports at the Area Competitions.Athletes will need a Tempe swimsuit for competitions. We will be doing try-ons at one of the first few practices. More details to come. ⚠️ If this camp is no longer listed at the registration link, registration has closed.
