Preschool Aquatics 10 AM

Purpose: To orient preschool age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire basic aquatic skills. Prerequisites: There are NO skill prerequisites for preschool aquatics Learning Objectives: Enter and exit the water using a ladder, steps, or through the side in a safe mannerLearn to ask for permission before entering the water Blow bubbles through mouth and nose Submerge their mouth, nose, and eyes Open their eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects Front and back glides and recover to vertical position Back float and recover to a vertical position Roll from front to back and back to front Tread with arm and hand actionAlternating and simultaneous leg actions on their front and back Alternating and simultaneous arm actions on their front and back Experience wearing a lifejacket in the waterLearn how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency, and knowing how to call for helpLearn how to stay safe in and around the water, including the use of a life jacket, recognizing lifeguards, and sun safetyA parent MUST accompany their child in the water. The ratio is 1 parent to 1 child.Class will be held at the Pharr Aquatic Center located at 1000 S.
