Film Screening: Love Birds
Celebrate Pride Week the right way—with “gay gulls.” Love Birds follows the incredible story of two scientists as they discover lesbian seagulls living on California’s Channel Islands, and how their work helped shape LGBTQ+ history. The Nat and the San Diego Bird Alliance are proud to present a special screening of this award-winning film about the unprecedented discovery biologists George Hunt and Molly Warner made while studying seagulls on California’s Channel Islands: so-called “gay gulls.” Their findings spark both outrage and celebration in a nation grappling with the rise of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. After the screening, Love Birds director, Elliot Kennerson, will share his experience working on the project and discuss its impact on the LGBTQ+ community.
