May 16, 2026: Outcry Reads Festival: The Up and Down Detective Agency at Outcry Theatre Rehearsal Location

The Outcry Reads Festival a yearly festival of play readings. Outcry Theatre produces four readings of new works by local Dallas-Fort Worth playwrights. Local actors are cast, and an Outcry staff member directs the readings. The readings take place at the Outcry Theatre Rehearsal Location in Plano, Texas. The readings are free to attend, with limited seating for up to 20 audience members. A talkback follows the readings, moderated by the director, where the audience members and actors discuss the play with the playwright. The Up and Down Detective Agency by Mike Byham Neil Down runs a Detective Agency with his partner Stan Up when one day Barb Wire walks in. A dame with a mysterious past, and a job offer for Neil. Her sister Case Worker is missing and she thinks she’s been kidnapped. Never one to turn away a case Neil accepts the job…but Barb might be more wiry than she let on.
