Garland runs four free city splash pads from May 3 through October 5. Add the year-round splash pads in Mesquite, the new Wylie pads (opened May 2025), and Sachse's J.K. Sachse Park pad (opened April 2024), and you've got a real menu within a 15-minute drive. All free.
1. Central Park Splash Pad (Garland)
Location: 405 N Glenbrook Dr, Garland, TX 75040
Anchored at Garland's inclusive playground park. Button-activated, with above-ground and in-ground fountain elements designed for all-ability access. Pair with the inclusive playground for a multi-hour visit.
Parent tip: Activate with the orange bollard. Open 10am-8pm, May 3 through October 5.
Want to check if the fountains are running today? See live maintenance updates on the official Central Park portal.
2. Embree Splash Pad (Garland)
Location: 1515 Dairy Rd, Garland, TX 75040
Above-ground and in-ground fountain elements with a seat wall for parents — a small thing that makes a real difference when you're four hours into a kids' splash day. Adjacent rec center has bathrooms, and the playground and 0.5-mile trail extend the visit.
Parent tip: Activate with the orange bollard. The rec center bathrooms are cleaner than the splash-pad ones.
3. Clay Mathis Park Spray Zone (Mesquite)
Location: 2181 Clay Mathis Rd, Mesquite, TX 75181
Free spray zone with water nozzles shooting upward and showers spraying down, in a single-pass design (water not recirculated — cleaner than most pads). Shaded pavilion on-site is reservable for birthday gatherings. The single-pass water system is the standout: no recirculated water means a cleaner experience on a 100°F day.
Parent tip: Open 10am-8pm, May through September. Pavilion reservable for parties — book through Mesquite Parks and Recreation at 972-216-6260.
For weather closures, seasonal restrictions, or maintenance schedules, view the Clay Mathis Park Spray Zone city page.
4. Watson Splash Pad (Garland)
Location: 3910 Lawler Rd, Garland, TX 75042
The highest-rated of Garland's pads. Spray jets and waterfalls deliver more feature variety than Embree or Central. 7.4-acre park around it has a playground, basketball court, and softball fields.
Parent tip: Activate with the blue bollard (yellow top). 4.5-star average from hundreds of parent reviews.
5. Rowlett Wet Zone Waterpark (Rowlett)
Location: 5304 Main St, Rowlett, TX 75088
Step up from a splash pad — three slides, a lazy river, a 25-yard lap pool, and a toddler area. Modest admission. The right pick when the free pads are packed on a hot Saturday and you want guaranteed water-time.
Parent tip: Open Saturday-Sunday 12pm-6pm in summer. Birthday party packages available — book early.
Closures are rare, but you can confirm real-time operations on the Rowlett Wet Zone Waterpark facilities status page before packing up the car.
6. J.K. Sachse Park Splash Pad (Sachse)
Location: 4310 Ranch Rd, Sachse, TX 75048
Opened April 2024. Interactive water spouts and a shaded pavilion, with pickleball courts, sand volleyball, restrooms, and a pavilion on the same site. Newer than Garland's pads, so equipment is in great shape.
Parent tip: Open 9am-9pm daily. First-come basis with no pavilion reservations on the splash pad.
Before heading out, review the J.K. Sachse Park status dashboard for seasonal maintenance updates.
7. Murphy Central Park Splash Park (Murphy)
Location: 200 N Murphy Rd, Murphy, TX 75094
Splash park at 52-acre Murphy Central Park, with two covered playgrounds (under-5 and 5-12) and a pavilion with grills. The covered playgrounds make this the right pick for mid-summer when other playground equipment is too hot to touch.
Parent tip: Covered playgrounds are the standout feature in July-August. Check Murphy parks website for seasonal hours.

How we picked these
Every pick is free, public, and has at least one full operating season. We weighed feature mix (dumping buckets and tall sprayers for the brave, ground sprays for the cautious), restroom access, shade, and what Garland-area parents on Google and the moms-group threads keep recommending. No paid placements.
Planning your visit
Garland pads run May 3 through October 5, 10am-8pm. Mesquite pads run May 1 through September 30. Sachse, Wylie, and Murphy pads run roughly the same window. Pack water shoes, towels, and dry clothes. Swim diapers required for pre-potty-trained kids. For more kids' events near Garland this week, see the Garland events page.
