Teen CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training
This class will teach students a variety of subjects, all meant to bring awareness to disaster preparedness/response. This is a federal government managed class and all content is established through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Skills learned include: Incident Command System (ICS), fire extinguishment, basic first aid, disaster psychology, search and rescue, victim carries and so much more. This course is both classroom and hands-on, so dress code will be strictly adhered to after the first day. Students will also receive a CERT backpack during the course. NOTE: This is a 3 day commitment and students MUST attend all 3 days to pass the course. Class is for high school students in grades 9-12. Please dress in comfortable/appropriate clothing (no shorts, or open toe shoes). Course includes hands-on training that will require class participation and some physical activity.
