The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course prepares students to teach swim lessons to a variety of ages and skill levels. This three-day course will incorporate online learning, in-person lecture, and in-water practice. Participants who complete the course will earn an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification. Prospective candidates must be 16 years old and pass all pre-course skills test in order to continue in the Water Safety Instructor Course. The Skills Tests we be conducted on the first day of class and consists of the following: Front crawl - 25 yards Back crawl - 25 yards Breastroke - 25 yards Elementary backstroke - 25 yards Sidestroke - 25 yards Butterfly - 15 yards Float on back for 1 minute Tread water for 1 minute If you have any questions please email swim@temeculaca.gov
